Which oil do you use and why?

Postby Chris » Wed Sep 19, 2007 7:19 pm

Hi All,
I'm about to do an engine oil change on my EK4 Civic.

I've been reading up a lot on what's the best, etc.

I believe Royal Purple Full Synthetic is one of the best on the market. Does anyone know i can get this stuff?

Oh, and what VISCOSITY do people recommend?

Factory for me is 10-30, i think. but i wanna change to 10-40 at least.

Any advice (especially technical with proof) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx

hah hah.. we were talking about this subject before.

I'm using Penrite Full Synthetic - 'Synthetic 5' SAE 5W-60.
Thats right... not a typo.

royal purple for any car that is not a drag or circuit weapon for real and this even factors in evo's and wrx's - is way overkill

Use Nulon 15-50 synthetic - very sensible - very high quality - Aussie all the way.

90 bucks for oil  - My car is turbo - 120 ATW, on weak boost - I dont use RP oil - that stuff is for strung out hardcore cars. ar was making 180 ATW and i was running 12's - then I would right now high 14's 13's just make sure you change the oil - thats much more important

Honestly stay clear of Nulon, I dont know if they have changed, but years ago they were a really dodge company. Also their brake fluid is just rubish and eats away at seals, so yer I dont think they have changed much
